The Essentials:
If you are already a member of a gym, fantastic. Practically every gym out there will have just about everything you’ll need. And if they don’t, no worries, you can substitute other equipment most of the movements we prescribe such as a DB for a KB.
If you aren’t a member at a gym, you’ll only really need a minimum of equipment. For the most part, you’ll be able to adapt every workout so it can be done with just body weight movements. But, that can get old and we want you to have fun. So, it’s best if you have a few items. You can always add incrementally as your budget and interests allow. That’s how I’ve done things for years. Nobody starts off with a complete home gym.

Dumbbells
You don’t need a full set, just a couple of the weights that you think will be the most utilized. For me, that’s 25 and 50 lbs. Obviously, these come in pairs. There are some outstanding dumbbells available that are adjustable. These are really useful for home gyms and I recommend them. They take up far less space and can be adapted to varying weights really easily. Here are a couple of options:
