“Yeah, Paul, I think I’m all set. I already know what I’m supposed to eat. I just need to be more disciplined.”

I’ve heard that response at least 23,472 times over the past 5 years from about 98% of my midlife brothers whenever I mention Nutrition Coaching.

Sadly, discipline ain’t enough and knowledge seldom equals application. Proof of this is the condition of the person sitting across from me who just spoke those words. Few are fit and healthy.

Persuading dudes that they need coaching of any kind, much less nutrition coaching, can be a challenge. I suppose it’s the DYI attitude that we’ve been brainwashed into believing is virtuous. Maybe it’s the same mentality that won’t allow us to ask for directions or help. We figure stuff out on our own. And we’re tough as nails and can endure loads of discomfort and privation because of our iron-willed self-discipline.

The problem with this approach is that most of us can count on our iron-willed self-discipline right up to the point we are tempted, and then it crumbles.

And if knowledge of what to eat was the key to losing weight and being healthy, we’d have very few overweight people in America. Yeah, there’s some controversy and confusion surrounding nutrition, but most of us have figured out the basics, like eat more vegetables and control portions.

We don’t have space here to psychoanalyze the entire population of midlife American males. Instead, let’s focus on why anybody would hire a coach.

We seek out and invest in coaches to guide us to an outcome faster and more easily than we can get there on our own.

I suppose it’s possible that some tiny fraction of the 23,472 may achieve on their own what they yearn for, but I’d be willing to put money on it that it will take them much longer and be a lot harder than if they engaged a coach.

So, Fellas, you’ve got three choices. Do nothing and stay mired. Do it yourself – the long, frustrating, and really hard way. Or find a coach that you can trust who’ll show you a path that’s faster, easier, and more certain.

Our mission is to guide you to your desired outcome as quickly, safely, and simply as possible and set you up to stay there to enjoy the fruits of your effort.
