This January, Try 1 Simple

I hope you had a wonderful weekend celebrating the new year and your holidays were a blast! Can you believe it's January already?! Life is such a whirlwind...

Speaking about January and whirlwinds, let's talk about getting off to a strong start in this new year.

Have you ever charged into January with big ambitions and quickly felt like you'd bitten off more than you could chew? Yeah, me too. It's all too common this time of year. We overreact to the indulgences of the holidays and get super motivated to change our ways, but end up trying to do too much at once.

That was the case for me last year. I kicked off '22 doing a program called 75 Hard. It's a hardcore program of daily discipline in which you commit to doing 10 hard things every day for 75 straight days. These ranged from exercising twice a day and reading 25 pages of non-fiction (neither of which is all that hard for me) to tracking my calories and abstaining from alcohol, both of which proved surprisingly challenging.

I made it 27 days. I was surprised at how disappointed I felt in myself.

From the post-mortem, I realized that I just tried to do too much at once.

I was counting calories, tracking hours of sleep, getting my reading done, working out twice a day, limiting screen time, cleaning out my inbox, meditating, and trying to get all this recorded in my journal. It was too much all at once and doomed to fail before January 2nd.

This year, I'm taking the complete opposite tack. Instead of 75 Hard, I am doing 1 Simple.

The only significant daily behavior that I am committing to is tracking my daily protein consumption.

Why?

One of my key learnings from 2022 was how essential protein consumption is to our healthspan. Few of us eat enough.

We intend to dive deep into this subject during next Thursday's Healthspan Secrets webinar (Jan 12th). We hope you'd take 30 min to join us.Here's an invite where you can register.

Our focus on protein will also be a cornerstone of our Winter Warrior Challenge, which is set to kick off on January 23rd. Stay tuned for more on that.

So, yeah, this January, I'm gonna keep it simple. Instead of 75 Hard, I will focus my energy on one simple but critical daily habit and repeat that for 31 days - tracking my daily protein consumption.

I hope you'd consider spending some time with us next Thursday evening to learn how eating more protein can help you burn fat, build more muscle, look leaner, feel stronger, and make a meaningful contribution to optimal healthspan.

MidStrong's purpose is to help you preserve the ability to do all the things you love, with the people you love, for as long as you live. Part of that preservation effort involves keeping things simple and sustainable and doubling down on what's essential, like eating adequate protein.

Hope to see you next week, Thursday -January 12th! Until then...

Work it. Live it. Keep it.

MidStrong is for life.
