You Probably Don't Have Enough

Hey there MidStrongers,

There are few humans on earth who have too much muscle. Because I know most of you personally, I can safely assert that you are not one of them. 🙂

In fact, most don't have enough.

We inexorably lose muscle as we age. It's an unavoidable fact of the aging process. The length and quality of our healthspan are dependent upon preserving a sufficient amount. The more muscle we develop in our middle decades and then preserve as we age, the better quality of life we will enjoy in our marginal decades.

Think about it like a 401K. If we hope and plan to live well into our ninth or tenth decades, and hope to enjoy that time, the more muscle we need to accrue now.

Aside from anticipating that happy payoff well out in our future, there are a host of wonderful dividends that come from investing in more muscle now.

Here are a few:

  • You look lean and strong and feel awesome!

  • You grow functionally stronger

  • More muscle burns more fat

  • It improves our metabolic health

  • Reduced cancer risk

  • It protects against CVD

  • You enjoy improved balance and coordination

  • You build stronger bones

  • Because of the two above, you are more durable and fall resilient

  • You increase your mental toughness and become more emotionally resilient

  • You feel more confident, not just about your appearance, but about stuff you can do and things you might want to try but were afraid to or embarrassed about

  • Improves your mobility; you can go places you didn't think you could

  • It helps develop good habits because to create them, you have to stick to a consistent routine

  • You demonstrate an excellent example to your kids and relations

  • Improves your mood, your sense of well-being and outlook on life

  • Sharpens your cognitive acuity - memory retention and clarity of thought

  • You'll sleep better, which helps EVERYTHING else

  • Less systemic inflammation and chronic pain

  • You will tend to eat better because you don't want to mess up the good thing you've got going

All of which will generally make us richer in health and happiness! Who wouldn't want that?!

In my opinion, our lean muscle mass is the most USEFUL measurement that we capture with our InBody scanner. We want to Measure What Matters. Muscle matters. A lot.

This is why we want to encourage you to join our Measure What Matters annual assessment program. The deadline to join is Wednesday, November 2nd by 8 pm.

Here's where you can sign up: CLICK HERE

The cost is a one-time annual charge of $250. If you were to do a one-off scan on our InBody, that would cost $75.

Like with financial planning, we really want to avoid running out of funds or muscle years before our time comes. And like financial planning, the best time to start investing in more muscle is NOW.

Measure What Matters is going to help you track your progress and make course corrections to ensure consistent positive progress.

Work it. Live it. Keep it.
MidStrong is for life.
